There have been a few changes in the personnel at our North Tyneside Howdon Laboratory over the past weeks.
NWSS would like to welcome Emma Martin into the laboratory management team. Emma joins us from GSK where she had a long and varied career over the past 23 years.
Emma has joined us in the newly created Howdon Laboratory Team Manager role and will be responsible for the management and personal development of the staff across the whole of our Howdon Chemistry Lab.
Emma is already working hard to get to know the whole lab team.
Outside of work Emma enjoys walking her rescue dog, Honey, who is about 13 years old and is a spaniel cross Labrador – a “springador” and also owns a 24 year old Connemara pony who she competes in Eventing (dressage, show jumping and cross country).
There have also been some changes to the Howdon Organics VOC/Sample Reception Team.
Phil Bowes has just been seconded into the Team Leader role of the Howdon VOC/Sample Reception Team. Phil has been a Scientist at Howdon since 2012 working in the VOC/Sample Reception Team for the last 8 years alongside Benji McMahon who has moved into an exciting role in the Technical Support Team.
Phil has been part of the NWL Aspiring Managers Programme and it is great to see him be promoted internally within his team after 11 years in his role as Scientist.
Phil has already embraced his new role and is representing Howdon labs in the initial Lean process review meetings amongst other things.
The Scientist role that has been left vacant has been filled by Katie Darling who has working as an Analyst in the team since 2014.
Good luck to Emma, Phil, Katie and Benji on their new roles.
